Client: Studenac – Croatia’s largest food retailer by number of stores, known for its rapid expansion and proximity-based retail concept;
Location: Velika Gorica, near Zagreb, Croatia - the site benefits from excellent road infrastructure, ensuring smooth logistics and distribution flows;
Challenge: As part of its strategic growth and logistics optimization, Studenac required a high-capacity Pallet Racking System for its new distribution center near Zagreb. The system needed to support multiple temperature-controlled zones, accommodate a wide variety of SKUs and packaging formats, and ensure operational safety and efficiency. The project also demanded seismic protection, integrated fire safety systems, and dedicated areas for charging material handling equipment;
Achievement: STAMH Group engineered and integrated a fully customized Conventional Pallet Racking System with a total capacity of 31,967 pallet positions, tailored to meet Studenac’s complex operational needs;
The facility is designed to include a modern Warehouse Management System (WMS) that will unify operational processes, along with an automatic replenishment system to enhance inventory optimization across the network. The project also incorporates sustainable features such as a full-scale waste management system and rooftop solar panels to support environmentally responsible operations.
Key features of the Racking Solution include:
- Multiple temperature-controlled zones: +2 to +6°C, +6 to +12°C, 0 to +4°C, 10 to +15°C, and -20 to -18°C These zones ensure optimal storage conditions for diverse product categories, from fresh produce to frozen goods;
- Integrated sprinkler system within the racking structure in the standard-temperature zone, enhancing fire safety without compromising storage density;
- Seismically secured racking to ensure structural integrity and safety in compliance with local regulations;
- Racking meshes for flexible SKU management, allowing safe storage of various unit types and packaging formats;
- Designated charging areas for material handling equipment, supporting uninterrupted operations and energy efficiency;
- Special flexible protective barriers and guards installed throughout the facility, including around racks, doorways, and structural columns, to minimize damage and extend system lifespan;
This project marks a significant milestone in Studenac’s logistics transformation, enabling faster fulfillment, improved inventory control, and scalable infrastructure for future growth.
