CLIENT: MASPEX - SMART AUTOMATION THAT DRIVES BUSINESS FORWARD
Maspex is one of the leading food and beverage companies in Central and Eastern Europe, known for its innovative logistics and distribution systems. With modern logistics centers in Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary, the company manages a total storage capacity of over 450,000 pallet spaces;
To ensure smooth and efficient operations, Maspex has invested in state-of-the-art high-bay warehouses, equipped with automated and robotic technologies. These allow the company to process over 20,000 pallets per day, ensuring fast and accurate deliveries to customers and partners;
LOCATION: ROMANIA – A RISING LOGISTICS HUB WITH HUGE POTENTIAL
Romania has rapidly positioned itself as a key logistics hub for Southeastern Europe. Significant investments, combined with a fast-developing infrastructure, are fueling the country’s logistics market. The growing demand, especially from e-commerce, is further accelerating this expansion.
Valenii de Munte, located in Prahova County, is a great example of this growth. Its proximity to Bucharest and Ploiești makes it a prime location for industrial investments, including Maspex’s latest logistics expansion.
THE CHALLENGE: BALANCING EFFICIENCY, ACCURACY AND SCALABILITY
When STAMH Group took on this project, their engineering teams faced several key challenges:
- Creating a seamless connection between production and warehouse through a fully automated system that eliminates manual transport and forklift dependency.
- Maximizing storage capacity in a space-constrained facility.
- Reducing operational costs, including labor and intralogistics expenses.
- Ensuring precise tracking of each pallet for better accuracy and efficiency.
THE SOLUTION: CUTTING-EDGE AUTOMATION FOR A SMARTER WAREHOUSE
To tackle these challenges, STAMH Group’s engineers designed a fully automated pallet conveyor system that integrates roller and chain conveyors along with specialized transfer modules for precise pallet movement.
This new system allows finished goods to be automatically transported from production to the warehouse, without human intervention. The process includes:
- Four checking stations, where sensors scan each pallet to verify weight, dimensions, and condition.
- Transfer modules and vertical lifts, which elevate pallets to a dedicated overhead transfer corridor.
- A robotic Radio Shuttle System with 24 autonomous carriers, capable of moving pallets weighing up to 1,000 kg and reaching heights of 1.8 meters.
ACHIEVEMENT: MORE EFFICIENCY, LESS MANUAL WORK, LOWER COSTS
Maspex’s warehouse now features 20 automated Radio Shuttle Storage blocks and an expedition zone with buffer racks, enabling efficient management of 38 375 pallets.
Here’s how automation has transformed operations:
- Increased efficiency – Each Radio Shuttle storage block reaches 11 meters high, with deep-lane corridors storing up to 25 pallets per row. This means a single robotic carrier can handle 25 pallets before moving to another aisle or level;
- Enhanced safety – Forklifts and operators no longer need to enter the Racking System, minimizing accident risks;
- Optimized storage – Intelligent distribution of goods reduces errors and speeds up order processing;
- Lower costs – With automation handling transportation and placement, labor and operational expenses are significantly reduced;
THE FUTURE OF LOGISTICS IS HERE
The Maspex and STAMH Group project is a perfect example of how modern automation technology can transform warehouse operations. By integrating cutting-edge solutions, Maspex has not only increased storage capacity but has also optimized every step – from production to storage and distribution.
This is the future of logistics – smarter, faster, and more efficient.
