PERMACRISES AND CONSTANT CHANGES, LEADING TO NEW MARKET REQUIREMENTS
The constant changes during the last few years in Eastern and Western Balkans can be defined as “permacrises” – COVID-19, war, lack of human resources, and difficulties previewing market dynamics. Nevertheless, following the latest previsions of the World Bank, the Serbian economy is expected to grow 2,3% in 2023;
In this complicated context, the logistics chain must continue its operations flexibly and uninterruptedly. Warehouses and distribution centers are considered the heart and often the brain of any supply chain and fortunately, the smart automated intralogistics solutions are here to change the way we store and process non-palletized loads;
Today, we share with you an intriguing interview with Mr. Igor Rack – managing director of STAMH doo regarding a new automated fulfillment system, highly recommended for warehouses processing large amounts of non-palletized goods, searching for efficiency and more profitable intralogistics operations.
PERMACRISES AND CONSTANT CHANGES, LEADING TO NEW MARKET REQUIREMENTS
Question: How would you describe a warehouse of tomorrow? Or is it simply part of a distant and not well-defined future?
Igor Rack: Definitely, it´s something happening today and now, and STAMH doo projects and systems are а shining example of the possibilities of our international project management and engineering teams. For sure, today’s warehouses are working with the “goods to person principle¨
I can say our colleagues and partners have already stopped perceiving warehouse automation as something unattainable and impossible. The new 3D Automated e.scala System, STAMH Group implements in Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Serbia, and other Central and Southeastern European countries proves that there are very complete and surprisingly affordable solutions, which, apart from everything else, can turn out to be very profitable;
Question: What do you mean by a “complete” solution?
Igor Rack: The new 3D Automated e.scala System is a robotic, goods-to-person orders-fulfillment system, that transports bins automatically in 3 dimensions. It is scalable, with configurable storage density. “Complete” means that the system doesn’t need additional elements – you can receive all the components of this automated solution from one supplier, in this case – STAMH doo. We start with understanding clients’ needs and intralogistics problems, then we engineer, deliver, and put into operation this automated solution.
Question: In your opinion, when a business can start thinking about automation with e.scala?
Igor Rack: Actually, the new e.scala system is so complete that some of the most important initial calculations are already made. It makes economic sense to integrate the new Automatic 3D e.scala System starting with a minimum of 500 containers or bins. Later, it can easily be expanded for both capacity and performance and STAMH doo will be available for this future expansion;
The average load-bearing capacity of each bin is about 40 kg. But my advice for you, when you start thinking about warehouse automation is to contact our international teams, because in some cases there may be other automated solution meeting your specific business specific needs – like the Automated Vertical Lift Machines for example;
Question: What about the intralogistics operations with e.scala? What would be the changes after the integration?
Igor Rack: Well, here I would make a special mention of the significant noise reduction in the warehouse. The noise exposure remains permanently at 20 dB. This is below the recommended lowest values for a permanent sound level at workplaces. The immediate integration of the “goods to person principle” shouldn’t be underestimated, either.
